From May to October (depending on conditions), the Via Ferrata of the Rochers-de-Naye is for you. It is a secure mountaineering route that promises strong emotions. Equipped with cables, ladders, ramps and handrails, the ascent offers an intense experience in a breathtaking landscape. This activity requires a good knowledge of the mountains, climbing techniques and mountaineering equipment.
The via ferrata is in the north-eastern extension of the summit ridge of the Rochers-de-Naye. Its north-west orientation faces the Lake Geneva basin and gives a plunging view of the Riviera and Lake Geneva. The wall is bathed by the sun in the second half of the day.
Its route begins with a vertical spur of about 50 m which gives access to a cave clearly visible from the foot of the face. It continues on a narrow ascending ramp that leads to a succession of grassy vortices that lead to the foot of the escape route. From there the route descends again to tackle the final overhanging and physical wall.
Walking access 30 minutes
Get off the Montreux – Les Rochers-de-Naye cogwheel train at Jaman station. Excellent view on the wall where the via ferrata is located. Go down the path to the ruins of a mountain pasture chalet. Leave the road going down to the Col de Jaman and follow the path of the Col de Bonaudon and then the via ferrata signs.
Back on foot 5 minutes
By the path to the hotel de Naye, possibility to eat.
Another possibility: via the cave path (very aerial mountain route) to the Jaman railway station, about 1h45.
