The Vevey funicular railway offers an unparalleled view out over the beautiful Lavaux vineyard terraces.
The Vevey – Chardonne – Mt-Pèlerin funicular railway departs from the shores of Lake Geneva and climbs through the Lavaux vineyards (a World Heritage Site) to an altitude of more than 810 m in less than 15 minutes. A 45-minute walk takes you to the foot of Mont-Pèlerin, where you can visit the famous 'Plein ciel' telecoms tower and enjoy a 360° panoramic view out over the lake, the Chablais region and the Rhône valley. On a clear day you can even see Grand Combin mountain, the jewel of the Valais Alps and the second highest peak in French-speaking Switzerland.
To top off the spectacular scenery, why not sample the regional wine – the famous Chasselas – for an even more memorable experience.
